CAPABILITIES

Manage Complexity

Complex problems require the coordination of specialist advice and legal expertise. We develop wholistic advice and strategy, anchored in a strong and innovative approach to legal fundamentals, to identify solutions and opportunity.

Innovate

We work with clients to identify opportunities that lie out of reach without legal talent. We do this by combining legal expertise, deep research and client knowledge to develop strategy and drive innovation inside agile companies.

Advice + Etc

We produce solutions for clients with complex needs who require a prismatic legal approach to navigating virtual greenfields. We specialise in serving the DeFi, blockchain and digital currency communities of Australia. We provide focused advice, transactional and dispute resolution expertise where the disciplines of commercial law, corporate governance, financial services regulation and licensing, tax, technology and digital law converge.

Our distinguishing feature is one of approach. What we practice is just as important as how.  We merge deep experience across disciplines, embrace conceptual complexity with alacrity and produce cohesive advice through collaboration. Why? Traditional approaches to legal practice favour specialisation, with the inevitable effect of siloed expertise and lots of collaborative friction. Not ideal for legal problems that span multiple disciplines and jurisdictions. Our clients require end-to-end legal solutions that necessitate expertise across multiple legal specialisations. We respond to this need by orienting our practice around the unique features of each brief. This is the prismatic effect. We identify and pull together each legal ‘prism’ to produce robust advice and great outcomes across legal specialisations.

Virtual GC

If your business is not at the stage where you need a full-time general council (GC), we can step in to fill that management gap. We have been fortunate to scale with our clients through some significant growth trajectories, some over a decade. One of the key things we’ve learned through experience is that legal needs change over time and good lawyers must be agile. Our talent is deployed virtually or in person in flexible and tech-enabled ways. We have the skills, expertise and experience to integrate seamlessly into your current business structure, de-risking, overseeing compliance and spotting opportunity with the finesse earned from deep knowledge of your operations, aspirations and risk appetite.

Legal Ops

Technology and automation are the most obvious solutions for legal departments with repeat or volume legal needs. Legal and compliance teams have rarely been frontrunners to modernize, digitalize and automate, but the times are a’changing. Legal technology budgets will increase 200% by 2025 and by 2024 legal departments will replace 20% of generalist lawyers with professional Legal Ops staff. Because legal services are not confined to transactions and advice we support our clients with customized precedent library builds, compliance packages and discovery activities. We work along the innovation spectrum supporting clients to conceive of, design, develop, test, launch and iterate MVPs and tools that support legal practice.

Talent

We source and cultivate talent in the mushrooming field of digital currency and emerging technology law.  Why? We’ve learned our clients need support securing legal and other professional services talent that can hit-the-ground-running and approach us for this work out of necessity. Ultimately, how we work with or for you depends on your needs.
